Daniel Mao

Background
From June 2001 to May 2003, Mr. Daniel Mao served as Chief Executive Officer of SINA Corporation, the leading Chinese news media and information services company listed on NASDAQ. During his tenure, Mr. Mao was instrumental in the successful turnaround and the strong growth of the company. In early 1999, Mr. Mao started out as Chief Operating Officer of SINA, which is a result of a merger between two Internet companies located in the United States and China. He was responsible for the integration of the merged company, and for building the business operation and strategic alliance teams. Prior to joining SINA, Mr. Mao served as Vice President of Walden International, a renowned venture capital firm, overseeing investments in technology-based companies in the United States, China and Hong Kong. Among a number of successful investments, his investment in Stone Rich Sight Information Technology Company Ltd. (SRD) in 1997 became a famous case of venture investment in China. During his tenure with Walden International, Mr. Mao helped bring about the merger between SRS and SINANET.com, which resulted in the formation of SINA.com at the end of 1998.

Mr. Mao received his M.S. Degree in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University in the U.S.A., and his B.S. Degree in Computer Science from Shanghai Jiaotong University in China.
